This course is a complete guide to understanding the basics of firearms ownership, safety, and nomenclature, and how it applies to home- or self-defense. After this class, students will feel confident to act as their family’s first line of defense in the event of a home invasion or other critical incident.

This class meets the State of Illinois requirement for 16 hours of instruction. Successful completion of this class will allow you to apply for an Illinois Concealed Carry License (CCL).

This course is open to Veteran's and family members aged 21 & over. You must have a valid FOID, State ID, or Driver's License. *If bring your own firearm, must be unloaded and in a case. Rental guns are available if you do not own something suitable. Checklist will be sent prior to class.

You must show up on time. You must be over 21. You must have a valid FOID, State ID, or Driver's License. *If bringing your own firearm, it must be unloaded and in a case. Rental guns are available if you do not bring your own.
Thank you for your service! While the state requirement for honorably discharged veterans and law enforcement is only 8 hours, we believe the additional training is an excellent refresher on firearms safety, and Illinois law. Learning with your family is time well spent.
